Borwn
aluminium oxide abrasive is electrically fused in an arc furnace from
a mixture of bauxite, anthracite as-main raw materials at high temperature.
Its chemical composition contains Al2O3, a small amount of SiO2 and
Fe2O3, etc. Microhardness is 2000-22000 kg/mm2. This abrasive material
is a little softer than silicon carbide, but its toughness is higher.
Abrasive articles made of it are suited for grinding general steels,
annealed malleable iron and hard bronze, etc. It can also be used
in the manufacture of high-class refractory products. |
